Vancouver salmon fishing is productive all year round. With 5 species of Pacific salmon available in our waters. Along with the immediate local waters, which are only a short 15-20 minutes from our dock, Spring Loaded Fishing Charters accesses a number of hot spots throughout Georgia Straight, Howe Sound and over in the Gulf Islands. This result is fantastic salmon fishing 12 months of the year!

5 Hour Charter

These half day fishing charters are 5 hours dock to dock and are the perfect option for guests to experience Vancouver from the water and do some fishing close to our dock. Chinook, coho, sockeye and pink salmon can be caught on these trips depending on the time of year. These trips are generally within 15 - 25 minutes from our dock.

8 Hour Charter

An 8 hour trip is a great option for those who are looking to enjoy a slightly longer day on the water or for those who just plain love to fish! This extra time ensures your guide has the time and range needed to take you to the best fishing grounds for chinook, coho, pinks and sockeye. It also allows time to change fishing spots once or twice if needed and gives the added benefit of fishing two tides. These subtle, but important facts can be the difference between good fishing and great fishing.

10 Hour Charter

If you and your crew are serious about catching fish, in particular big chinook, this is the trip for you. Although to some this might sound like a long time, the seasoned angler knows these trips goes by incredibly fast once you are out on the water. During this time we will do whatever it takes to get you to the top producing salmon grounds and you will have the added bonus of fishing two tides. Our success rate on a 10 hour trip is very high and we have lots of time to drop crab traps and prawn traps in season, or do some fishing for lingcod and rock fish where permitted. Let our comfortable 27' Grady White with twin Honda Outboards open up and take you out to the hot spots on a 10 hour charter, no limits, no fuel surcharge, just pure saltwater fishing at its finest.

What you need to know before coming on your Vancouver Salmon Fishing Charter. Answers to the most commonly asked questions.

  • Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and the season your trip is booked for.
  • It is best to dress in layers as it can be cold in the morning on the run out and the weather can change rapidly on the water.
  • We do not supply rain gear but we would advise you to bring your own if you have it and bring footwear that is warm and somewhat waterproof.
  • Sunglasses are a must and a hat and some sunscreen are recommended as well.
  • Don’t forget your camera so you can take a picture of your catch.
  • Whatever you would like to eat and drink for the day.
  • A printed copy of your fishing license.

Where do I get my saltwater license?

Fishing licenses need to be purchased by all guests on the charter. Paper licenses are no longer available for purchase at charter and retail locations. They can only be purchased online.

You need to purchase a Tidal License with a Salmon Conservation Stamp if you plan on keeping your catch. If you plan on releasing your catch, you still need to purchase a license, but you do not need to purchase the Salmon Conservation Stamp.  Children under the age of 16 require a license but it is free of charge. Your license must be printed off, and be with you at the time of the charter.

Are food and beverages provided?

Guests will need to bring along whatever food and beverages they would like to enjoy during their trip. Don’t forget to bring a bag or two of ice along with you!

Will Spring Loaded Fishing Charters process my catch?

Once we are back on the dock we will clean and bag your fish for your transport home. It is a good idea to bring a cooler and leave in your vehicle to put your catch in to keep cool and the mess out of your vehicle for the ride home.
